ABOUT US

In a sense, Metro-Products came to be as a result of the owner of Metro Plastics Technologies, Inc. being a do-it-yourself kind of guy. In 2002, Lindsey Hahn was putting in ceiling lights in the kitchen of his home when he accidentally stepped off the ceiling joist…there was his foot sticking through a big hole in the ceiling. This, to say the least, did not make his wife very happy (it was not the first time this had happened to him).

A few months later he and his wife were on a lengthy road trip… Lindsey’s mind started to wonder… “How can I help home owners everywhere keep from falling through their ceilings?” It was then that he came up with the idea of making a plastic panel that would span the joists in the attic. The panels would need to be easy to install and able to support a person’s weight so they could walk above the ceiling. The only alternative at the time was plywood which is hard to maneuver in an open space let alone into an attic. Why, this type of product could even be used to make a whole floor in the attic…this could mean more storage space!

That was the beginning! Mr. Hahn then shared his idea with Metro Plastics’ tooling engineer who came up with the design for the Attic Dek panel that we have today.

There were years of direct sales to hardware chains and trade shows and all the normal marketing avenues; today we sell through hardware retail catalogs with establishments such as Lowe’s and Sporty’s as well as other web sites and our own.

Metro Plastics Technologies, Inc. produces plastic injection molded products for clients in the auto, aviation, medical, agricultural, food service and other consumer product industries. Both Metro Plastics and Metro-Products are family owned and ran out of Noblesville, Indiana. Metro is the only manufacturer of Attic Dek. Metro Products also sells Hitch-N-Horse saw horses that are also produced by Metro Plastics.

Who knows what type of products haven’t even been thought of yet! You know what they say, “Necessity is the mother of invention”.
